What is assisted reproduction (IVF) and how can it help you?

Assisted reproduction is a procedure that many couples use in trying to fulfil their dream of parenthood. Conception is not always a simple process, and infertility is often the cause. Treatment does not always have to be a complicated procedure. For a certain number of patients, depending on the cause, only minor interventions such as ovulation induction are needed to achieve a pregnancy. For others, highly specialised methods of assisted reproduction may be required, such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and intrauterine insemination. Given the success rates of assisted reproduction procedures and the happiness that many couples experience when they finally achieve a pregnancy, more and more couples are deciding to take this step.

At Cito Polyclinic we are specialised in the treatment of all types of infertility. Because we have our own operating theatre we can also treat surgical causes and the most severe cases of male infertility with the help of MicroTESE/TESA procedures. We want to make it easier for patients to feel as comfortable as possible during this emotional and stressful period, and we are therefore always available for advice and support throughout the entire process, whether you are preparing for the assisted reproduction procedure, going through the procedure itself, or in the period after it. A team of experienced doctors, embryologists and medical staff takes care of your needs and wishes in order to provide the best possible experience in the process of IVF — assisted reproduction.

More than 20 years of experience in IVF

Through more than two decades of work in the field of human reproduction we have accompanied thousands of couples on the journey to pregnancy.

To this end, since 2006 the polyclinic has had the best-equipped and most successful laboratory for assisted reproduction (IVF) in the region, fully equipped to perform all in vitro fertilisation methods. The Cito IVF laboratory meets the highest safety and quality standards for tissues and cells under the European Tissues and Cells Directive.

Cito Polyclinic is licensed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia to perform all types of assisted reproduction (IVF, ICSI and ET) and for the storage of reproductive cells, tissues and embryos.

We plan every IVF procedure responsibly, without unrealistic promises and with respect for your time, health and emotions.

More about assisted reproduction (IVF)

Methods of assisted reproduction

In addition to the most common forms of assisted reproduction such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (AIH/IUI), we also offer advanced methods such as ICSI and IMSI. We also treat male infertility, with the MicroTESE/TESA procedure.

Infertility

There are many risk factors that cause infertility in couples. Among the most common causes of infertility in women are uterine pathologies such as fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome and hormonal imbalance.

IVF programme

In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is one of the assisted-reproduction methods, designed to treat couples with infertility. Before the IVF procedure it is necessary to go through a fertility assessment process and then to plan, together with our experts, the start of the IVF cycle.

Procedures in the laboratory

With Clean Room technology we meet the highest safety standards in handling tissues and cells. Together with top embryologists and new technological achievements, our embryology laboratory is equipped with „state of the art“ devices.

Preparation for IVF

Preparation for IVF comprises all the steps that increase the likelihood of a successful procedure. It is an individually tailored process in which we determine the ideal moment to start stimulation, the necessary tests and recommendations for additional support for the body.

What does the IVF procedure at Cito Polyclinic look like?

1. Initial consultation

A conversation about previous attempts, review of documentation and definition of the first steps of the work-up or the IVF procedure.

2. Diagnostics and plan

Ultrasound, hormones, semen analysis and additional tests as needed. Based on the findings, we create an individualised plan for the procedure and an outline of the chances of success.

3. Performing the procedure

Ovarian stimulation, oocyte retrieval, the laboratory part (IVF/ICSI) and embryo transfer or FET — with clear day-by-day instructions and the option to contact the team with any questions.

4. Follow-up and support

Instructions after the transfer, arrangements for the beta-hCG test and, when necessary, a plan for the next steps or pregnancy care once a pregnancy is achieved.

Every couple is unique, but the structure of the procedure is always clear — this gives you a sense of control and lets you know where you are in the process, from the first contact to the pregnancy test.

Why do couples choose IVF at Cito Polyclinic?

The key advantages that give couples in assisted-reproduction procedures a sense of safety, structure and trust throughout the entire IVF process.

An individualised treatment plan

The infertility treatment plan is based on age, hormonal status, semen analysis, previous IVF attempts and your life story — without generic protocols.

An experienced team

The team is made up of experienced embryologists and doctors, including a pioneer of IVF procedures in the region. They are experts with thousands of completed procedures, who understand both the medical and the emotional challenges that couples face.

An advanced embryology laboratory

Standardised protocols and strict quality standards, modern technology, careful embryo culture and a detailed report after the procedure — comparable to the leading centres in the region.

Realistic, clear communication and support

No unrealistic promises: we clearly explain every step of the assisted-reproduction procedure, assess realistic chances of success and provide continuous support at every stage of treatment.

Special benefits for couples undergoing IVF

Treating infertility is often a journey that takes more than one cycle. We want you to feel at every step that you are not alone, that we value your trust and that we are building a long-term relationship — with you and your family.

A gratitude programme for repeat procedures

For couples going through multiple IVF cycles we have developed a gratitude programme — a discreet way of expressing respect for the trust you have placed in us. The programme includes special benefits on subsequent attempts, based on individual arrangements and the doctor’s advice.

“Cito Family” benefits

We are particularly happy when couples come back to us to expand their family. For those who had their first child through our IVF programme we have introduced “Cito Family” benefits. The idea is simple: to support you in building a family and to be with you in the next chapter as well.

Support in more challenging situations

Some couples come to Cito after multiple attempts at other institutions, or in their forties, when the journey is more demanding. For such situations we provide additional benefits and an individually guided plan — because we want to be by your side even when it is hardest to remain persistent.

Prices of assisted-reproduction procedures

The prices of IVF procedures at Cito Polyclinic are defined transparently and in line with the type of procedure and the medical services included. The final price is set according to the recommended procedure and the individual plan for each couple (e.g. insemination, IVF, ICSI, embryo freezing, etc.).

At the first appointment we explain in detail all the costs, what is included in the price of the individual procedure and what is charged additionally — with no hidden costs.

The first available consultation appointment can be obtained by phone on +385 21 457 800 or by sending a short message through the contact form.
