Ultrasound during pregnancy is an examination by which, depending on the weeks of pregnancy, the vitality and position of the fetus, growth, the placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid, and, when needed, additional parameters (e.g. cervix, doppler flows) are assessed. The examination is non-invasive, free of radiation and a usual part of prenatal care.
Ultrasound during pregnancy may include an early ultrasound, first-trimester screening, an anomaly scan of the fetus and a growth ultrasound in later pregnancy.
