What is the Geri Time-Lapse Incubator?

The Geri Time-Lapse incubator is a sophisticated device that enables continuous monitoring of embryo development during the IVF process. This incubator uses built-in cameras that capture images of the embryos at regular intervals. The result is a sequence of images that can be played back as a video, providing detailed insight into embryo development from the moment of fertilisation to the moment of transfer into the uterus.

The Geri embryo culture dish has 16 wells for monitoring individual embryos from the same patient. The embryos therefore share a group culture, which leads to improved embryo development.

The individual chambers are tailored to the patient from the very beginning of embryo development right up to embryo transfer itself, ensuring optimal conditions for the growth and development of the embryo.

Advantages of the Time-Lapse Incubator

Continuous monitoring without disturbance

Time-lapse incubators allow the development of embryos to be monitored without the need to remove them from the incubator. In traditional methods, embryologists must frequently take embryos out of the incubator to observe them under a microscope, which can cause changes in temperature and environment that may have a negative impact on the embryos. Time-lapse technology eliminates this need, providing more stable conditions for embryo development.

Detailed analysis of embryo development

Thanks to uninterrupted monitoring, embryologists can analyse key stages of embryo development with great precision. This technology makes it possible to identify the optimal embryos for transfer, which increases the chances of successful implantation and pregnancy. Subtle changes and developmental patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed can be detected.

Automation and standardisation

This technology enables the automation and standardisation of the embryo monitoring process, reducing the possibility of human error. The software used together with time-lapse incubators can analyse images and recognise patterns that indicate embryo quality, providing objective data for decision-making.

Increased efficiency and success

Time-lapse incubators improve the efficiency of IVF procedures. By providing deeper insight into embryo development, embryologists can make more informed decisions about which embryos have the greatest potential to achieve pregnancy. Studies have shown that the use of time-lapse technology can increase the pregnancy rate and reduce the rate of miscarriage.

Enhanced patient experience

Couples undergoing IVF procedures are often under great stress. Time-lapse technology enables a more transparent and informed approach, in which couples can see the development of their embryos in real time. This visualisation can be a source of emotional support and understanding of the process they are going through.

Creating optimal conditions

Changes in environmental variables can significantly affect the effectiveness of the culture media and embryo development.

The Geri time-lapse incubator is designed to minimise disturbances in the embryo's environment, reducing the stress of opening the lids while supporting gamete function and embryo development.

Six separate chambers

Each chamber is independently controlled and designed to monitor the embryo development of a single patient.

Undisturbed embryo development

A „State of the Art“ system for continuous monitoring of embryos with an individual microscope and a high-resolution camera.

Light

The light source in the cameras is adapted for the examination of embryos in early development, which is also the most sensitive stage of embryo development.

Gas

A specific concentration of gases is required for optimal embryo development. In Geri time-lapse incubators, each chamber has a highly sensitive sensor that consistently maintains the gas level under optimal conditions.

Humidity

A specific level of humidity in the incubators is required for proper embryo growth. The Geri incubator has a sensor in each chamber that continuously monitors the humidity level, which can additionally be checked on the incubator's screen.

Temperature

Dual heating elements in each chamber ensure temperature stability. These heaters allow rapid recovery of the set temperature value within 60 seconds after the lid is closed, providing optimal conditions for embryo growth. Advanced technology featuring 4 temperature sensors precisely detects minimal changes in temperature and ensures undisturbed embryo development.

Conclusion

The time-lapse incubator represents significant progress in the field of IVF, offering new opportunities for monitoring and improving treatment success. This technology not only improves the conditions for embryo development, but also enables more detailed analysis and more objective decision-making.

As a result, couples who use time-lapse technology have a greater chance of a successful outcome and of fulfilling their dream of parenthood. As the technology continues to develop, we can expect even greater improvements in the effectiveness and experience of IVF procedures.
